Extensions, land-border cap and overstay fines

Extension. A 30-day visa-free stay can be extended once by up to 30 more days at an immigration office, form TM.7, fee 1,900 THB. The officer decides; it is not automatic.

Land-border cap. Visa-free entries through a land border are limited to two per calendar year. Malaysian, Bruneian, Indonesian and Singaporean passports are exempt. There is no number in the law for air arrivals, but officers can refuse repeated back-to-back visa runs.

Overstay. 500 THB per day, up to 20,000 THB. Overstays of 90 days or more can bring an entry ban.

At the airport. Fill in the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before you fly. Officers may ask for 10,000 THB per person in cash or on a statement, and an onward ticket.
